We previously announced that Prof. Hiromi Sanada, the president of our university, was selected as one of the “Top 2% Scientists in the World” last year. Now, we are pleased to share even more exciting news.

Prof. Hiromi Sanada has been selected to receive the International Achievement Award from the International Council of Nurses (ICN).

This award, presented biannually by ICN and the Florence Nightingale International Foundation, is given to nurses who have made a significant international impact in areas such as direct care, education, management, or research. It is a remarkable achievement, as there are years when no award is given, and Prof. Sanada is the first Japanese recipient.

Her exceptional contributions to geriatric nursing, wound care, and disaster response both in Japan and internationally, as well as her pioneering work in nursing sciences and engineering, leadership in establishing major academic institutions, and dedication to mentoring the next generation of nurse researchers were highly recognized.

The award ceremony will be held at the ICN Congress in Helsinki, and Prof. Sanada will appear via video due to official duties. We hope to share the video with you all at a later date.
